My Approach And Training

My Counselling Approach

My priority is to provide a caring, safe, respectful and non judgemental environment for working together.  My approach is flexible, tailoring our sessions to your individual and changing needs.

I draw on differing methods of counselling, rather than being restricted to one approach.  This enables us to find the most appropriate approach for you to start to recognise the issues that are worrying you.  My responsibility is to support and guide you through the difficult and sometimes challenging times, to facilitate you in eventually  taking control and moving on to a more productive and fulfilling life.

My Background – Working With Children And Adults

I trained and worked as a general nurse for six years. I left nursing  and completed further training to enable me to work with children, children with disabilities, their families and individual adults.  I worked for local authorities, charities and the National Health Service.

During my counselling career I have worked for Youth Counselling and have also run a children’s counselling service at a local hospice where I worked with children, adults and families, both on an individual basis and together. I currently volunteer as a Counsellor at the Fountain Centre in Guildford working with patients and their relatives who are coming to terms and working through a diagnosis of cancer.

I have experience of working with children, teenagers and adults of all ages. My broad experience enables me to assess and tailor my methods to meet your changing needs and help you to get the most out of your counselling.
